Leavin' on a Jet Plane

Well, Matthew & I are traveling for the first time by plane since his birth. I'm thankful I have plenty of airplane experience, because I'm fairly nervous even so. I've researched and it appears as though we're doing all the things to make it easier: taking a direct flight, flying in mid-week/mid-day, taking stroller/car seat so Matthew (& Mommy) can relax before the flight, taking stuff for him to suck on during take-off/landing. I'm also packing according to tips found all over the internet! I won't purchase an infant ticket, with a chance that if there are empty seats, Southwest Airlines will let me strap in his infant carrier. If not, I'll check both the stroller/seat at the gate and hold him on my lap. I've checked at the Website, and I can purchase 8 tickets both way, so apparently, there are at least 8 seats still available.
