Going to the store is getting to be harder and harder. Last week we were in the spice aisle with all the cake and cookie mixes and icing. Matthew started shouting "I want that! I want that! Beautiful food!" It was a box of colorful icing tubes--what you use to write on cake and cookies. Anyhow, I thought to myself, we never do this, so why don't I get some refrigerated sugar cookie dough and icing and make some nice cookies for us.
MY plan was to do it later that day or the next, but Matthew wanted to do it immediately. I tried telling him that we would do it later, but he proceeded to throw probably the worst tantrum to date! It was his nap time, so I decided to put him down for his nap right away. Kicking, screaming, all the way. The next day, I made the cookies, let them cool, then presented 3 of them to Matthew so we could decorate them together. He was thrilled and kept saying "beautiful food!"

OK. Maybe he could be a famous chef!! And, I feel for you with the fits in the store. Corey & I went round and round EVERY TIME we went clothes shopping. UGH!

Are you talking about clothes for YOU or clothes for Corey?
There's a store here (actually about 15 miles away) that will watch your child while you shop. I think they give you a beeper. He has to be 3 to participate. I imagine I will shop THERE to make life easier! We keep ending up with things we don't need. I allow a treat or 2 and the rest of the time I spend reminding him of his 1 or 2 treats.
As much as you like Wal-Mart, taking a child there at check-out is a total nightmare!!! All the candy and good stuff, wow, what a challenge for the Moms of this world.
I would have loved a store where they give you a beeper and you could let them watch your kids!! WOW.
