At the end of Matthew's class this morning, all the kids were wearing a type of get up on their head that looked like puppy ears. All kids but Matthew, that is. He came toward me without one and immediately explained the situation.
"I didn't make a hat. It's a siwwy (silly) siwwy hat. I don't want to wear it."
Ms. Sandy, assistant, informed me that Ms. Susie, teacher, wanted to see me. Oh, no, I thought. She's getting to know Matthew.
Ms. Susie: "Matthew didn't make a hat. That's okay, but he completely refused and said, 'No, I don't want to make a hat.' It's optional, but his other work he'll have to do."
Thankfully, he's doing his other work, although he DID refuse the food during "Healthy Food Day". All the boys and girls on the list had a favorite food (mostly cucumbers, was the fad), but next to Matthew's name was "None". :-)
I can see why he thought it was silly, but if I were a kid, I think I'd have liked it! Who knows?!

Oh boy...I'm thinking the teacher doesn't know Matthew at all!! If she did, she might have insisted he do the hat because I know the grade school teachers won't let saying no be an option!!! He needs to learn that silly or not, he might have to do it if the teacher says so! Oh boy!!
