Who is Mama, Anyway?

I was pretty excited when he started uttering "mama" several months ago. Perhaps he was 9-10 months old. He was saying it, but not really meaning it. Then he went through a stage in which he was saying "dada" & "mama" to both of us. We knew, according to books, that this was normal, and soon, he'd call us both by our respective titles.

However, that has not been the case. Matthew went through a phase in which he knew who Dada was, and would squeal and go to the door when Dada came home. Still there was no real understanding of "mama". Mama could be a waitress, or something along the highway. I figured Mama was just a state of being for him, since we're together practically all the time.

After a while, his Dad became "Mee-mee", his name for Mickey Mouse, and who knows who mama is. I often pat myself and say "No. I'm your Mama," to which he started patting himself and saying "maaamaaa." It's cute, so I sort of let it go.

Well, this Mother's Day, our second together, Matthew looked up at a little league team on the wall of a restaurant and said Mama. I just could not accept that and told him for sure that the team was NOT his Mama. Well, I can only hope one day he figures it out!

He'll figure it out! Someday, it will be 'mama, I need some money', 'mama, can you take me to...' 'mama, mama, mama, I want, I need....'

Just wait:))
