Matthew is doing really well with the potty. He's still in a pull-up at night, but is doing well during the days. In fact, he's started being able to go "both ways" in the day time, almost completely by himself! Wow!! One day, it will just happen and I won't know anything about it. Haha.
Last night, too, he had a completely dry pull-up when waking up. I've gotten so that I will change his pull up around 515 a.m., which helps in two ways. If he has gone a lot in his pull-up, I can change it and he won't get wet sheets. But also, it's beneficial for breaking his sleep cycle and then he sleeps later! :-) This week his pull up has been pretty dry at 5:15, so I wonder if I'll keep waking him just for the later sleep time.

His Reward
Here's Matthew's "poo poo treat"--it was a reward for going 3 times in a row in the potty. Jim heard of this somewhere. I'm not sure where, but I want to thank these people!! During his waking hours, he's potty trained now! He even uses the big potties--the ones in restaurants, other people's houses. It's a happy happy day. He had to earn his poo poo treat by going 3 consecutive times. The first time he went was a big enough deal, but the time after that was not in the potty. I made up a tiny chart and on it were 3 lines for check marks. Once he filled those spots, he got a poo poo treat!
Here's the toy he earned. However, although he picked it out, he's still pretty afraid to use it. He uses it with the neighbors, however!

Momentous News
We have no picture for this, as you can understand! Listen in, as Matthew tells (or tries to tell) some big news to Dada. Even though the recording says it's 7-30, it was really today, 7-31. It happened about a half hour ago! Yahoo.

Potty Update
This is the 4th week of potty training. Here's how it's been going.
Week 1: Went twice in the first day, then went in his underwear before saying "I go pee pee." In other words, he would say "I go pee pee" and that meant "I WENT pee pee." He didn't seem to understand that you say it, then run to the bathroom. This continued on through the first week until the Friday of Week 2. I realized that the first day was some beginner's luck.
Week 3: Matthew would usually go one time successfully on the days we were home. I have been deliberate about staying home just to potty train. But I went out several days of that week. At least Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Leaving the house is disruptive to the process, because he wears Pull-Ups, and he treats them like he treats diapers. He just goes in them and doesn't use the potty at all.
Week 4 (now): Matthew said "I go potty Mama!" and went successfully 3 times yesterday. Today, Matthew went poo poo!! I think it surprised him, and he immediately wanted off the potty. He was like "ewww!" But I made a big deal out of it and we went to go see Dada in his office and he made a big deal out of it, too. Matthew seemed overall pleased, but I'm not sure if it was a fluke or not. I bought some Little Debbie treats for if he does it again.
Is this "TMI"?! Well, at least I don't have pictures! :-)

Potty Training
This is wonderful news. Today's the day we're switching to underwear. Matthew is on board! It started 2 days before Christmas, when he declared that he DID NOT want diapers. I couldn't really do it, however, with all the upcoming busyness; I started but quickly stopped. Too many distractions. So, after the suggestion of a friend at church, today's the day and Matthew is ready, and we're in underwear. But wait--there's more! He went (#1) into the potty just now at 11:35 a.m. He's not wearing any pants, only his Thomas underwear. At first a trickle, then, a little stream, and his eyes were completely gleaming and he was giggling, and he wanted a hug. Then he wanted some candy.
So, it appears as though we're on the right track!
