4 Month Doctor Visit

Today was Matthew's 4 month visit with the doctor. Dr. Burns said Matthew looks very healthy and we may certainly go ahead with cereal, and in fact, we can introduce other solids, if we want. (Yes, puh-leese!) We have to wait 5 days in between any new food, to be sure there are no allergies.

His weight was 15 lbs even, height was 26 1/2" and head circumference was 42.75 cm. The weight is in the 50th percentile, his height is still in the 90th percentile, and his head circumference is still in the 50-75th. See his growth chart.

He had the same shots as his last appointment, but doesn't seem as sleepy as last time. He's acting totally his normal Matthew self. We will probably go for a stroller walk, since it's 68 degrees outside!

His cradle cap is doing much better since I put some .05% hydrocortizone cream on. Sleeping, however, remains an issue. Nutritionally, the doc says he is able to sleep 5-6 hours without needing food, because he's 15 lbs. However, he's still waking up. She gave me some printouts on getting babies to sleep better. Wish my mom was here and could use that trick she used on Corey! I need some sleep. I'll be sharing more on that, later, I'm sure.

Well, mom just made sure Corey was fed, had a clean/dry diaper and then she put him in the bed and walked away. It worked, AFTER he cried himself to sleep several times!! As Matthew begins to eat more, I bet he'll sleep better. You may have to pretend that you and Jim have the flu and try to ignore his cries for awhile :(((( easier said than done!!!

You'll know when it's time to "force" the issue. I was ready to do so much before Lisa, but JPS is now 5 and AMS is 3 and they both sleep through the night. No, they didn't just start. Cherish these days, they will pass all too quickly.
