Baby Update - One Month

Matthew is 4 weeks old tomorrow! It's hard to believe time has passed so quickly. Every Friday I think back and have such great memories (if you can believe) of labor. It sure was a special time.

I wouldn't call myself an old pro handling Baby yet, but both Jim & I are better than we were the first night. When we were finally alone with baby for the first time, Jim thought perhaps we should check the diaper, and I asked him what we would do if we found something. Now, Jim is a diaper expert, and I've got feeding down pretty well.

Here are some things he's doing:
  • Focusing his eyes on our face
  • Raising his head up pretty well (for a bit)
  • I believe I've heard a couple of "coos", but I'm not too sure.
  • His night time feeding schedule has been great for a week! Last night, for example, I fed him at 1, 4:30, and 6:45. Other nights, it's been about 11:30, 2, and 6:30. I've been able to get 5-6 hours of sleep a night, including naps that Jim makes me take.
  • Morning play time...he seems to have a pattern of NO sleep in the morning. He wants to interact.
I've been living by the book What to Expect--The First Year. Thanks so much, Debi!!! What a lifesaver.
