Matthew's Class

The picture below is very funny, although I'm sure you can't imagine why. These are little Thanksgiving "outfits" I now remember from November. Matthew is in the back (center right) and notice he's not smiling. The reason it's funny is he's standing behind a girl in the class who seems to bother him, Anna. In fact, her hat is blocking Matthew's view.

When I talk with Matthew about this I don't joke, but here, I admit it's very funny. Apparently Anna is his class rival. In fact, it used to be Anna and JACK. One day, I saw Jack myself, who ended up being this sweet little boy and he came up to Matthew when we first got there and said very kindly, "Hi Matthew. Want to play?" That's Jack?? I thought.

I tried to steer his thinking a little better by trying to figure out what was going on. I think it's because he's somewhat younger, but especially because Jack's also friends with apparent rival Anna. I know nothing of Anna, but every time I see her mom I think her mom looks very nice.

So again, I gather information, but Matthew is steadfast of his concern for her. Last night while getting ready for bed, I reminded him that tomorrow was a school day, and he replied, "Good! I'm going to get Anna and her powers. She's on the bad team and we're on the good team." He says all this with furrowed brow.
