Cartoon Cuts

Matthew had another haircut on Saturday. I heard about "Cartoon Cuts" and decided to give it a try.
The lady cutting his hair was very nice, and the atmosphere couldn't have been better. Kids toys, an elephant hair washer (which he didn't actually use), kids videos, lollipops, nice hair stylists.

This blurry picture tells the story--it was the same old, same old. However, Strong Dada had him instead of me, and they managed to get a nice cut. No more "finger pop" for now, but he uses my hair. He keeps talking about it like he liked it, but we know the real story.

I wonder what he thinks they are doing to him that he doesn't want a haircut so badly??? You can tell by Jim's face that he's struggling too!!! Hopefully he'll outgrow it soon. Have you tried gummy bears in clear view that he can have if he sits still????

Forgot to say that when I was little the dentist tried headphones and a story for me to listen to when he checked my teeth. It never worked for me until I got much older!!!

I can't imagine why he doesn't like this so much. Jim's definitely struggling, holding Matthew's head secure with his (Jim's) chin! Haven't tried the gummys; should do that. Or maybe YOU could take him, like you clipped his nails. We still can't do that, either.

I think that he's just made up his mind that he doesn't want to do it and you "mean parents" are making him do something he doesn't want to do. If nothing else, he IS strong-willed. Poor Jim - he looks determined to get the haircut done and Matthew looks determined not to give in to it!

You know the next time I go there we need to plan a haircut with Aunt Betsy and Matthew going by ourselves. We'll see if I can convince him that he'll get a great treat(gummy bears-of course they will be in plan sight of him too) if he lets them cut his hair!! Maybe I could also plan an added treat of doing something afterwards like McDonald's/Burger King Park. He loves to do that!

Now, the struggle is how to hold Matthew still and not look like it is child abuse. He was more than determined to get free and run from that place.Even a lollipop from the nice lady didn't hold sway.

You know Jim, when Matthew grews up I'm sure he'll be VERY happy his Dad and Mom didn't let him grow his hair out so he'd look like a little girl! He'd make a beautiful little girl with that face of his but I sincerely doubt he'd be happy with you two when he's about 13 or 14 if you showed pictures to people. Hang in there!!!
